I can’t say enough good things about our experience working with Lindsay as our photographer. We were drawn to her photography style (natural, elegant, romantic) over several others, and since we needed a photographer for only one hour for a private wedding ceremony, it was important to us that we find someone who could do a good job at capturing our ‘moments’, in such a short time frame. We are so glad we put our trust with Lindsay. She was warm and all smiles upon meeting, and like a true professional, she got straight to work and slipped into the background but began actively searching for creative angles to take pictures from.
Throughout our experience with Lindsay, you can tell she absolutely LOVES her job, and that really makes a huge difference. She is excited about taking photos and has a reservoir of ideas ready, so she would give us directions, or would suggest that we try a bunch of things really quickly between shots and you don’t really know how it will turn out, but we just trusted her vision and just had fun (and we’re so glad we did!). Lindsay hadn’t shot at Toronto City Hall before our ceremony that day, but you wouldn’t have known it; we found such amazing places to shoot and her head kept swivelling at our surroundings and coming up with different ideas. Outside of the actual chapel where we wed, I would say we managed to shoot at 6 or 7 different settings…. In just ONE HOUR! So we ended up with a fantastic variety of different pictures.
Personally, I don’t think I’m a very photogenic person, so I was a little worried about how the pictures would turn out, especially with the extra directing – but I cannot tell you how thrilled we were in receiving the edited pictures! We ended up with an album of amazing photos that looked SO NATURAL and SO beautiful. I used to think that all those beautiful Pinterest-worthy pictures out there are easy and 100% natural, but to achieve that, I know now that it takes a lot of vision and skill, and yes, a little bit of directing. Lindsay does all of that so well, and if she didn’t get the shot she was hoping for, she’ll help adjust and try something new. The result was incredible, I can’t believe how artistic and NATURAL everything turned out.
We’ve worked with other photographers before who let us ‘do our thing’, and told us everything was “Great!” throughout the whole shoot, but then most of the time, ‘expectation vs. reality’ did not pan out for us and we ended up with some awkward looking photos. Unlike those, Lindsay let us ‘do our thing’ but she also has a keen and dependable eye, so she gave us tips along the way and helped to make us look amazing in our forever-photos. Even with all of that, we also managed to get the ‘standard wedding shots’, like close-up of the rings, and flowers, etc. (which she also set up quickly and elegantly) and all of them turned out better than we even imagined.
We can’t thank Lindsay enough for being our wedding day photographer, and I feel so lucky to have found her! Her attitude is laid-back and easy to work with; her professionalism and talent is unquestionable. We definitely look forward to working with Lindsay again in the future, along whatever family milestones we are lucky enough to reach.
